Shwarmaniac was conceived when a chef from Washington began exploring his Lebanese background. His curiosity led him to the Middle East, where he fell in love with shwarma meat cooked on vertical skewers. When he returned to the U.S., he began experimenting with creating his own shwarma and sharing it with his friends. Then, he took it a step further by launching a fast-casual eatery so he could share his love of shwarma with a larger audience. Shwarmaniac opened in the summer of 2014, and the glowing Yelp reviews seem to indicate that the chef has touched upon a recipe for success.
Diners say you really can't go wrong with any of the shwarma dishes on the menu, although eaters seem to gravitate toward the chicken shwarma. If you don't eat meat, no problem. Vegetarians praise the cauliflower wrap, which comes crammed with hummus, romaine, onions, tomatoes, and garlic sauce wrapped in a pita. Complete your meal with an order of the highly-rated garlic fries.
